Water standing in the dishwasher
Most dishwashers that don't drain have a clogged filter. How to clean it in two minutes.
About 3 minutes · no tools needed
Safety first. Turn the dishwasher off before reaching inside. Watch out for broken glass in the filter area.
- 1
Remove the bottom rack
Pull it all the way out.
- 2
Clean the filter
Twist out the round filter at the back of the floor of the tub. Rinse it under the tap and scrub food off with a soft brush.
- 3
Run the disposal
If your sink has a garbage disposal, run it for a few seconds: the dishwasher usually drains through it.
- 4
Run a short cycle
Put the filter back and run a rinse cycle.
Stop and contact maintenance if
- · Water still stands after cleaning the filter
- · It leaks onto the floor
- · It shows an error code
What to tell them: Tell them you cleaned the filter, and send a photo of the model label (usually on the edge of the door).
